Klawervlei Stud’s very much inform Cape Guineas winning sire WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) ended an excellent week on Sunday when his two-year-old son RULERSHIP put up a smart effort on debut at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. Under Serino Moodley, the Michael Miller trained Rulership caught the eye when staying on to dead-heat for first place on debut this weekend.

Rulership is owned by Cecil Baitz, who bred Sunday’s winner in partnership with Dr Baitz.

The colt is the second two-year-old winner, from just a handful of starters, for William Longsword this season thus far, with the sire also responsible for fellow debut winner AIR OF MYSTERY. Willliam Longsword enjoyed a fine week last week, with his G2 daughter REMEMBER WHEN romping home to score at Turffontein on Tuesday evening, and his sons PINEAPPLE EXPRESS and SAFE RETURN both winning at Kenilworth on Wednesday.

One of South Africa’s Leading Second Season Sires, William Longsword had yearlings make up to R500 000 at the recent Cape Premier Yearling Sale. The son of Captain Al has seven lots on offer at the upcoming Cape Yearling Sale.
