Klawervlei Stud’s promising young sire ROYAL MO (Uncle Mo) came up with his fourth first crop winner when his two-year-old son MATSUYAMO won at Fairview on Friday.

Trained by Candice Bass-Robinson, Matsuyamo was all the rage for Friday’s Welcome To Nelson Mandela Bay Racing Maiden Juvenile Plate (1600m) and duly lived up to expectations. Under a strong ride from Aldo Domeyer, the Ralphs Syndicate bred gelding stormed home to win going away by three-parts of a length.

Owned by ASSM Racing Syndicate, Matsuyamo was making his fourth start on Friday, having finished third to his paternal half-brother RULE OF THUMB last time out.

His G3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes winning sire Royal Mo has made a very pleasing start to his stud career, and recently was responsible for the first three finishers in a 1400m contest at Kenilworth.

To date, Royal Mo has been represented by four winners from just nine runners.

Royal Mo, who shares his outstanding sire UNCLE MO with promising two-year-old MO STRIKE as well as the 2022 Belmont Stakes winner MO DONEGAL, has four lots on offer at this year’s August Two Year Old Sale.
