Klawervlei Stud’s bang inform sire WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) enjoyed feature race success at Turffontein on Saturday, when his classy son DYCE romped home to a brilliant win in the Listed Golden Loom Handicap (1000m).
Winner of the G2 Epol Umkhomazi Stakes at two, the Lucky Houdalakis trained Dyce made a big impression with his win in Saturday’s R225 000 sprint.
Under Craig Zackey, the entire son of William Longsword hit the front 100m from home and powered away from his opponents to land the 2023 Golden Loom Handicap by an emphatic two lengths.
The race was a triumph for Klawervlei, with William Longsword responsible for the impressive winner, and his stablemate CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) sire of runner up CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT.
Bred and owned by David Shawe, Dyce, despite having had a near two year layoff earlier in his career, has now won five of just 11 starts.
He joins a growing list of stakes winners for his Cape Guineas winning sire WILLIAM LONGSWORD with the latter also responsible for fellow black type winners ITSRAININGWILLIAM, BON VIVANT, VIRGINIA SWEET, LORD WILLIAM and HASTA MANANA.
William Longsword has four lots on offer at the 2023 November Two Year Old Sale.
