Klawervlei Stud’s inform stallion TWICE OVER (Observatory) has a cracking crop of three-year-olds this season, and the former European champion was again to the fore when his unbeaten daughter CALL THE WIND lifted Sunday’s G3 Zimbabwe Guineas at Borrowdale Park.
Under Calvin Habib, the Vanessa Birketoft trained filly made it five wins from five starts with a courageous win against her male rivals in Sunday’s Zimbabwe classic and the first leg of the 2022 Zimbabwe Triple Crown. Bred by Ascot Stud, Call The Wind races for Gengis Goksel.
The Twice Over daughter had won all four of her races prior to Sunday’s race, with Call The Wind having captured the Fillies Classic at her penultimate start.
Her four time G1 winning sire Twice Over has a wonderful crop of sophomores representing him in 2021-2022, headed by G1 Cape Guineas winner DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE, G2 4Racing SA Nursery runner up SMORGASBORD, the very smart SENSO UNICO, and Listed Ibhayi Stakes hero RESONATE.
Twice Over, whose progeny also include former Horse Of The Year DO IT AGAIN, has also already enjoyed plenty of sales ring success this year, with a Klawervlei Stud bred Twice Over fetching R2 000 000 to top the 2022 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
