Klawervlei Stud’s triple G1 winning stallion CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) has been in good form of late, and the former champion sprinter was at it again when Captain Of All came up with two good looking two-year-old winners at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Wednesday afternoon.
The Beaumont Stud bred MEU CAPITANO made the perfect start to his racing career when scoring an impressive debut win at Kenilworth on Wednesday. The Piet Steyn trained two-year-old turned Wednesday’s Cape Racing Maiden Plate (1000m) into a one-horse race as he pulled clear, under Grant Van Niekerk, to win as he liked by three lengths. Back in second place came the regally bred first-timer BOOGIEFIED, a son of unbeaten Triple Crown winner and rising sire sensation JUSTIFY (Scat Daddy). It was a smart performance by Meu Capitano, who raced very green in the running. Racing for owners Messrs Goncalves and Luiz, Meu Capitano is out of the mare ROSETTA STONE (Jet Master) and the colt is thus bred on the same Captain Of All/Jet Master cross as multiple graded stakes winner SHANGO (Captain Of All).
Captain Of All is also responsible for promising filly KAMAKAZI, who got off the mark at just the second time of asking when she claimed the second race at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Wednesday. The Candice Bass-Robinson trained two-year-old produced an eye catching turn of foot which propelled Kamakazi into the lead close home and the filly stayed on nicely to win, under Morne Winaar, by three-parts of a length. Bred by Ten Einde Farm, Kamakaze had finished sixth on her only previous start and she looks capable of progressing further for owners Greenacres Trust, Gary Lemke and Rod Mattheyse.
South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2018-2019, and himself a G1 winner at two, Captain Of All has now been responsible for nine juvenile winners in South Africa this season, with this tally headed by G2 World Sports Betting SA Nursery runner up JERUSALEMA RAIN.
