Klawervlei Stud’s inform G1 Vodacom Durban July winning sire POMODORO (Jet Master) has some cracking two-year-olds this season, and the versatile son of Jet Master came up with yet another good-looking juvenile winner at Turffontein on Saturday. Pomodoro colt GOLDEN PROSPECT made a big impression when downing some well-regarded two-year-olds to make a winning debut over 1400 metres.
Under Gavin Lerena, the Klawervlei Stud bred colt tracked the front runners early on, before kicking away in the closing stages of Saturday’s Frank Fitzsimons Maiden Juvenile Plate (1400m) to win emphatically by two and a half lengths. Trained by Sean Tarry (who also trained both his sire and dam), Golden Prospect races for Sean Tarry Racing (Pty) Ltd.
Golden Prospect joins the likes of G3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery winner EPSOM GIRL and G3 Godolphin Barb entrant RETURN TO RUSSIA as among the smart two-year-old winners for Pomodoro this season thus far.
South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2017-2018, Pomodoro has five lots on offer at the upcoming National Yearling Sale -including a half-brother (Lot 246) to Super Commander, a recent winner in Hong Kong.
