Klawervlei Stud’s multiple G1 winning sire CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) looks to have a potentially smart son on his hands in the form of MAJOR APOLLO.

The latter, third on his only previous outing, made a good impression when he made all to win at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Sunday afternoon, and Major Apollo looks to have plenty of upside to him.

Trained by Greg Ennion, three-year-old Major Apollo was quickly sent to the front by Richard Fourie in Sunday’s Hollywoodbets Durbanville Welcomes You Maiden Plate (1000m) and the pair never really looked in danger of defeat.

Major Apollo quickened up smartly  in the closing stages to win by three-parts of a length for owners Messrs Martin Wickens, S C Preston & Greg Ennion, Miss Gisela Burg and Greenacres Trust.

The gelding, who has a full-sister on offer at the upcoming November Two Year Old Sale, was bred by Riverton Stud, who also bred champion Captain Of All himself.

Captain Of All went close to having a double at Durbanville on Sunday, with his speedy son CAPTAIN ARROW flying up late to finish a close second in Sunday’s Need For Speed Sprint.

South Africa’s Champion Sprinter of 2014-2015, Captain Of All recently made headlines when his daughter KISS ME CAPTAIN landed the Listed Southeaster Sprint at Durbanville.

One of the best sons of Klawervlei’s legendary stallion CAPTAIN AL (Al Mufti), Captain Of All has six lots on offer at the 2023 November Sale.
