Klawervlei Stud’s successful sire and former G1 Vodacom Durban July winner, POMODORO (Jet Master) had a notable double at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday.

Not only did Pomodoro’s son COMMAND CONTROL win Monday’s third race, but another son of the versatile July winner, MONTANA SKY, captured Greyville’s fifth race.

Trained by Shane Humby, four-year-old Command Control ran out an authoritative, near one and a half-length winner of the third race, under a positive ride from Donovan Dillon.

The Klawervlei Stud bred gelding, who races for Messrs G R Almanza & T Govender & Mr D & Dr S M Hepburn-Brown, has thrived since stepping up in trip, with Command Control having won two of his last three starts and having won or placed in his last four outings.

His paternal half-brother Montana Sky powered home, under Jeffrey Syster, to score for Tienie Prinsloo and Mr R R Harris when he landed Monday’s fifth race by over a length.

A remarkably consistent sort, Montana Sky has finished in the first three placings in each of his eight starts.

South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2017-2018, Pomodoro has continued to make waves this season through the deeds of his G1 Cape Racing Presents The Cape Guineas winning son RUSSIAN ROCK -who runs in Saturday’s G1 Daily News 2000 at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

Also, sire of the likes of CIRILLO and RETURN FLIGHT, Pomodoro has 19 lots on the CTS Farm Yearling Sale and a further six lots on the KZN Yearling Sale.
