The great run of form enjoyed by Klawervlei Stud’s homebred stallion WILLIAM LONGSWORD continued on Monday when the former G1 Cape Guineas was responsible for two more winners.

Trainer Vaughan Marshall, who not only trained Willliam Longsword but also the latter’s outstanding sire Captain Al, sent out an impressive William Longsword sired winner on Monday, when the recently gelded IMPETUOUS made all to score a breathtaking win at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth

Under an enterprising ride from Anthony Andrews, three-year-old Impetuous quickly raced to the lead before building up a considerable lead on his chasing rivals. From there, the Klawervlei Stud bred Impetuous kicked on again to go away and win by an emphatic five and three-quarter lengths. Now a winner of two of his last three starts, the well-related Impetuous races for Bernard Kantor.

William Longsword filly SHIPHOLIA made the perfect start to her career earlier on when she made a winning debut at Hollywoodbets Greyville last year, and the Gareth Van Zyl trained three-year-old was back in the winners enclosure on Monday. Under Anthandiwe Mgudlwa, Shipholia raced just off the speed in Monday’s 1100m race before hitting the front close home and staying on to win by nearly two and a half lengths. The race was a great result for William Longsword, who was also responsible for runner up SHANTA’S PRIDE. Both Shipholia and Shanta’s Pride race for the Hollywood Syndicate, with Shipholia having been bred by Klawervlei.

A three-parts sister to Listed KwaZulu-Natal Stakes winner MIRAGE (Captain Al), Shipholia has now won or been placed in four of just six starts. William Longsword also went close to picking up another feature race win with his courageous son ITSRAININGWILLIAM beaten just over a length and a half when a close up third in Monday’s G3 World Sports Betting Variety Club Mile.

His sire has had a wonderful season in 2022-2023 thus far, with William Longsword currently the third Leading Sire of 3YOs in South Africa for the current season. Klawervlei’s high-class son of CAPTAIN AL (Al Mufti) is higher than star stallions QUERARI (Oasis Dream), THE UNITED STATES (Galileo), WHAT A WINTER (Western Winter) and the Klawervlei bred VERCINGETORIX (Silvano) on that particular premiership.
