CAPTAIN AL FILLY WINS CAPE FILLIES GUINEAS

Klawervlei Stud’s much missed champion sire CAPTAIN AL (Al Mufti) was responsible for his 98th

individual stakes winner when his daughter MISSISIPPI BURNING romped home to an impressive three length win in Saturday’s G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas at Kenilworth this weekend.

In the process, Missisippi Burning joins CAPTAIN’S LOVER and SNOWDANCE as Cape Fillies Guineas winning daughters of Captain Al.

Bred by Rathmor Stud, the Mario Ferreira owned three-year-old made it three wins in a row when downing a top-class field of fillies to land the R1 000 000 classic as she liked. Missisippi Burning is trained by Adam Marcus and was ridden to victory in the 2019 Cape Fillies Guineas by Craig Zackey.

Missisippi Burning, the 22nd G1 winner sired by Captain Al, is one of several top class three-year-olds representing Captain Al this season, with the latter’s sophomores of 2019-2020 also including the unbeaten CAPTAIN OF STEALTH, promising filly COUSIN LIZ, and G1 winner MISS FLORIDA.

Captain Al, whose top-class son ONE WORLD ran second in Saturday’s G2 World Sports Betting Green Point Stakes, is also making his mark as a sire of sires, and his Klawervlei based champion CAPTAIN OF ALL is currently South Africa’s second Leading Second Crop Sire by stakes.
