Klawervlei Stud’s exciting resident stallion POMODORO (Jet Master) had an outstanding weekend this week, with his three-year-old daughter GOLDEN BELLE winning Saturday’s G2 World Sports Betting Camellia Stakes at Turffontein, and his two-year-old daughter CARALLUMA taking the following day’s Listed Devon Air Stakes brought to you by Daily News Milkfund at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
GOLDEN BELLE
Both fillies were bred by Klawervlei, are trained by Sean Tarry, and both race for Pomodoro’s owner Chris Van Niekerk.
An impressive, four and a quarter length winner on debut, Caralluma made it two wins from as many starts when romping home to record a facile four length win in Sunday’s Devon Air Stakes.
Under jockey Bernard Fayd’Herbe, Caralluma outclassed her opponents to stamp herself as a hugely exciting prospect, and yet another potential G1 contender for her July winning sire POMODORO.
CARRALUMA
The latter, South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2017-2018, has made an exceptional start to his stud career.
Champion RETURN FLIGHT and R5.2 million plus earner CIRILLO highlight Pomodoro’s first crop, while his second crop has already produced six black type horses, including stakes winners LEOPOLD and GOLDEN BELLE.
Caralluma is from her multiple G1 winning sire’s third crop –and no doubt, there are more high-class performers yet to emerge from this crop!
