The versatile and brilliant G1 Vodacom Durban July winner POMODORO (Jet Master) has made a fine start to his stud career and he looks to be one of South Africa's most exciting young stallions.

South Africa's Leading First Season Sire of 2017-2018, Pomodoro has sired 15 stakes horses in his first three crops to race. He made a superb start with his very first crop to race. That initial crop was headed by Equus Champion RETURN FLIGHT, whose four graded victories included both the G1 Thekwini Stakes (at two) and the G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic the following year. She was voted Equus Champion 2 year old filly.

Pomodoro's first crop to date also produced the top-class colt CIRILLO, winner of the G2 Hawaii Stakes who has earned over R5 000 000 in prize money as well as Storm Bird Stakes runner up ROYAL ITALIAN.

The July winner's second crop includes 2020 G1 World Sports Betting Summer Cup contender CORNISH POMODORO, G2 WSB Camellia Stakes winner GOLDEN BELLE and Secretariat Stakes winner LEOPOLD.

Pomodoro's current crop of 3yos including impressive Devon Air Stakes winner CARALLUMA and Sophomore Sprint runner up RUSSIAN ROCK.

Further tribute to Pomodoro's potency as a stallion can be seen in the fact he has sired high-class gallopers out of mares sired by such unfashionable stallions as ASAAL, LAKE CONISTON, PROCLAMATION, and SPECIAL PREVIEW.

One of the very best sons of seven times South African Champion Sire JET MASTER (Rakeen), and out of Fillies Guineas winner and Broodmare Of The Year GOLDEN APPLE (Northern Guest), Pomodoro won or placed in 14 races, with his wins headed by scores in the G1 Vodacom Durban July, G1 SA Derby and G3 Tony Ruffel Stakes.

Pomodoro has four lots on offer at this week’s Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale including a half-brother (Lot 248) to the useful CAPTAIN OUPIE (Captain Of All), and a filly (Lot 361) from the family of champion South African sire FORT WOOD (Sadler’s Wells).

He has a further six lots on the upcoming CTS Ready To Run, Unbroken 2 Year Old & Mixed Sale, including a colt (Lot 43) from the family of champions HINTERLAND (Badger Land) and FOVEROS (Averof), and a filly (Lot 91) from the family of champion AQUANAUT (Foveros).
