Klawervlei Stud’s prominent young sire POMODORO (Jet Master) continues to go from strength to strength as a stallion, and the 2012 Vodacom Durban July winner enjoyed yet more success at the Vaal on Thursday.

This time, it was Pomodoro’s two-year-old son PUTONTHEREDLIGHT, a R300 000 buy from the 2018 Cape Premier Yearling Sale, to score, with that Sean Tarry trained juvenile downing a very promising son of outstanding Australian sire I AM INVINCIBLE over 1200 metres.

Making just the second start of his career, the Klawervlei Stud bred Putontheredlight ran on smartly to best the warm favourite Jash (whose sire I Am Invincible most recent stud fee was AUS$192 500), by 0.3 of a length going away.
Raced, like his sire, by Chris Van Niekerk, Putontheredlight is a colt with a lovely action and good cruising speed, and there should be plenty more to come from him!

He is one of several promising 2yos representing Pomodoro this season with others including IMMEASURABLE and BOUND BY DUTY.

South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2017-2018, Pomodoro enjoyed a tremendous day at Turffontein last Saturday with his champion filly RETURN FLIGHT landing the G2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks and his son CIRILLO running a cracking second in the G1 H F Oppenhemer Horse Chestnut Stakes.
Between them, Return Flight and Cirillo have earned well over R6.4 million in stakes!

Their exciting sire has a five strong draft on offer at the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale with his yearlings including a colt (Lot 75) from the immediate family of Cartier Horse Of The Year MINDING, a half-brother (Lot 402) to G2 Southern Cross Stakes winner JO’S BOND, and a filly (Lot 532) from the family of high class fillies STORMY APPEAL, STORM DESTINY and ELUSIVE HEART.
