Kentucky Derby winner and champion NYQUIST, who shares his brilliant sire UNCLE MO (Indian Charlie) with Klawervlei Stud’s exciting young stallion ROYAL MO, has made a big impact on North American sales rings with his first yearlings in 2019.

The former G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner (a race also won by Uncle Mo himself) was responsible for the top lot sold at the second session of Fasig-Tipton’s October Yearling Sale recently.

His Dromoland Farm consigned filly (Lot 703) was knocked down to bloodstock agent David Meah for $325 000 to top Tuesday’s session.

"We loved this filly," Meah said. "We went strong there, a bit stronger than we anticipated paying for her. Thankfully, I had my client on the phone and when he hears me say there is only one or two in a sale I love, he'll take a swing on both of them."

Her sire Nyquist had made waves earlier in the year with yearlings by the champion making up to $400 000 at Fasig-Tipton’s Saratoga Select Sale. Nyquist was also responsible for a colt who made $550 000 at the 2019 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, with another Nyquist son fetching $500 000 at the same sale.

His paternal half-brother ROYAL MO, whose first foals are arriving to rave reviews this season, was himself a high-class performer who captured the G3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes before finishing third in the traditional Kentucky Derby trial, the G1 Santa Anita Derby.
