Klawervlei Stud’s well performed young stallion WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) came up with another bright first crop winner when his two-year-old son DYCE romped home to a brilliant win at the Vaal on Tuesday afternoon.
Bred by Titanium Racing, the Dave Shawe owned Dyce had finished second and fourth in his two previous starts but made amends in no uncertain terms when scoring an eye catching win in open company on Thursday.
Under Craig Zackey, the William Longsword colt stretched right away from his rivals, as Dyce drew off to break his maiden by a stunning nine and a quarter lengths for trainer Lucky Houdalakis.
In the process, Dyce became the fourth first crop winner for his Cape Guineas winning sire William Longsword.
Other winners to have emerged from William Longsword’s first crop include G1 contender SAFE RETURN and the smart debut winner IMBEWU. The latter holds an entry for the G2 Zulu Kingdom Golden Slipper on Vodacom Durban July day and looks another promising sort for her exciting young sire.
By the same sire as this season’s World Sports Betting Triple Crown winner MALMOOS (Captain Al), William Longsword made further headlines when he was the Leading Sire by Aggregate at the recent CTS Farm Yearling Sale.
