Fresh off supplying three individual winners over the past weekend, Klawervlei’s inform stallion POMODORO (Jet Master) was again to the fore at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Wednesday where the former G1 Vodacom Durban July winner was responsible for a very promising looking three-year-old.

Pomodoro’s three-year-old son SCALINI stamped himself a horse to follow when he made much of the running to win Wednesday’s RaceCape Powered by Hollywoodbets MR 76 Handicap (1600m).

Under Corne Orffer, the Vaughan Marshall trained colt appeared beaten close home, but dug down deep to get back up and down TOTHEMOONANDBACK (Twice Over) by a long neck. Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Scalini has now won twice from just six starts for owners Jane and Ken Truter.

A horse with a beautiful action, Scalini looks a smart sort with the scope for further improvement.

His sire went close to having a double on Wednesday, with Pomodoro’s classy son TCHIKOVSKY running a close third in the seventh race.

South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2017-2018, Pomodoro is having another fine season this year and is currently above the likes of FUTURA (Dynasty), VAR (Forest Wildcat) and CAPTAIN AL (Al Mufti) on the general sires list.
