Klawervlei Stud’s inform sire POMODORO (Jet Master) looks to have another potentially smart two-year-old on his hands in the form of YELLOWPORSCHEROAD.

The latter justified tote favouritism when running out a very impressive winner of the first race at Kenilworth on Wednesday, with the Vaughan Marshall trained colt having caught the eye when finishing a close up second on debut.

Bred by Klawervlei, Yellowporscheroad was always up with the pace in Wednesday’s Welcome To Cape Racing Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m), under a confident ride from Anton Marcus. The Pomodoro colt was still full of run coming into the final furlong, and Yellowporscheroad powered away to score by a length and three-quarters.

Owned by Messrs Abery, Doyle, Drew, Elser, Farrell, Flangagan, Fullard, Gardner, Kantor, Koster, Lemos, Shanahan, Smith, Thompson, and Mr & Mrs Carolin,  Yellowporscheroad was a R500 000 buy from the 2021 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

He is one of a number of promising two-year-olds for his G1 Vodacom Durban July winning sire, with Pomodoro’s other notable juveniles this season including G3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery winner EPSOM GIRL and impressive debut winner RETURN TO RUSSIA.

South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2017-2018, Pomodoro has 13 lots on the upcoming CTS Farm Yearling Sale, including a filly (Lot 12) out of G2 Merchants winner JACKODORE (Toreador), a filly (Lot 59) out of Listed Aquanaut Handicap queen TAMBALANG (Go Deputy), and a colt (Lot 91) from the immediate family of outstanding miler PALACE PIER (Kingman).
