Klawervlei Stud’s four-time G1 winning stallion TWICE OVER (Observatory) has had a fantastic week thus far. Not only did Twice Over’s son CHAMPION WARRIOR make it two wins from two starts when winning at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Wednesday, his sire came up with two more winners at the Vaal the very next day.

Twice Over gelding KING OF ROME got off the mark when he ran out a convincing winner of Thursday’s Book For Charity Mile Maiden Plate (1700m). The Lucky Houdalakis trained three-year-old overcame a poor draw to win a shade cosily by just over half a length.

Bred by Terry Andrews, King Of Rome was making his fourth start on Wednesday, with the son of Twice Over having finished third in each of his two previous starts. The gelding races for Mr Shawe.

King Of Rome’s paternal half-brother BACK TO BASICS provided Twice Over with more success when he ran out a very impressive winner of the ninth and final race, the Next Vaal Racemeeting Thursday 20 October MR 68 Handicap (1200m). Under Nathan Klink, the Brett Webber trained colt powered away to win easing up by three and a half lengths. Bred by Ian Heyns, four-year-old Back To Basics, who is owned by Mr Moosa and Mrs d’Oliviera,  was winning for a second time.

Twice Over is also the sire of promising three-year-old HAMMIES HERO, who has been entered in the upcoming G3 Cape Classic, while another three-year-old by Twice Over, GRINKOV, holds an entry in the upcoming Listed Racing Association Stakes.
