Klawervlei Stud’s red hot sire TWICE OVER (Observatory)’s great season continued on Sunday, when the former European champion supplied an eye-catching two-year-old winner at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. Twice Over filly EAU DE VIE made a big impression when she made a winning debut over 1100m on Sunday afternoon. Under Rachel Venniker, the Carl Hewitson owned and trained two-year-old skipped clear of her rivals to win a shade cosily by three-parts of a length.
Eau De Vie, who was bred by the La Berg Stud, is one of several promising two-year-olds by Twice Over this season with others including Listed City Of Cape Town Summer Juvenile Stakes third place-getter GRINKOV.
Her four-time G1 winning sire Twice Over has had a fine season in 2021-2022 thus far, with Twice Over’s flagbearers headed by G1 Cape Guineas winner DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE, G3 Okapi Chairman’s Cup victor DOUBLEMINT and smart three-year-olds SENSO UNICO and SMORGASBORD.
Understandably, Twice Over yearlings have also been much sought after in the sales ring -with Twice Over responsible for the R2 000 000 Cape Premier Yearling salestopper among others.
