Klawervlei Stud’s triple G1 winning sire CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) had a good day at the Vaal on Thursday afternoon when the former Equus Champion came up with two smart looking winners on the nine race card.
Barend Botes and Yolandie Vosloo have done a wonderful job with Captain Of All gelding CAPTAIN DIZZY and the latter made it three wins in a row when he stormed home to land Thursday’s sixth race in fine style. Under Chase Maujean, the inform gelding hit the front 100m from home and powered away to score decisively by three-parts of a length.
Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Captain Dizzy has now won or been placed in 16 outings, and he looks sure to win again for owners Andre van Schaik, M D Ragavan, Q Thaver & Mrs K Ramsewak.
Out of a mare by the late champion and Klawervlei stallion NATIONAL EMBLEM (National Assembly), Captain Dizzy is bred on the same cross as Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes runner up EMBLEM OF HOPE.
Captain Of All struck again in the very next race at the Vaal, when his son CAPTAIN OF GRIT bested Captain Of All daughter MIA FIORE to win a shade cosily over 1500 metres. Trained by Candice Dawson, the gelded four-year-old kicked away to win by nearly a length in Thursday’s contest, with the Lammerskraal Stud bred Captain Of Grit having finished third two starts back.
It was a fine performance by Captain Of Grit, who was returning to the track after a long layoff, and he should be able to score again for owner Nick Kokkoris.
Himself winner of the G1 Gold Medallion at two and G1 Tsogo Sun Sprint at four, Captain Of All looks set to be well represented in various Hollywoodbets Scottsville G1 feature races next month. His millionaire son CARTEL CAPTAIN holds an entry for the G1 Golden Horse Sprint, his G2 WSB SA Nursery runner up JERUSALEMA RAIN is one of three Captain Of All sired two-year-olds entered for the G1 Gold Medallion and daughter CAPTAIN’S CHRISTY was entered in the same day’s G1 Allan Robertson Championship.
