Klawervlei Stud’s inform stallion TWICE OVER (Observatory) continues to enjoy a tremendous season and the former European champion struck another double when supplying two winners at Kenilworth on Wednesday.
His talented son DOUBLE CHARGE provided Twice Over with his first success on Wednesday when showing plenty of heart to get up close to home and win Kenilworth’s sixth race going away by a long neck. Under Grant Van Niekerk, the five-year-old forced his way through a narrow gap close to home and scored a convincing win over 1000 metres. Trained by Andre Nel, Double Charge was winning for a fifth time this season, with the Twice Over gelding now scored six times overall. Bred and owned by Sabine Plattner, Double Charge is out of SYDNEY’S GIRL (Casey Tibbs) and he is thus bred on the same Twice Over/Casey Tibbs cross as dual G1 Vodacom Durban July winner DO IT AGAIN.
Twice Over’s second winner on Wednesday came in the form of his three-year-old son SILENT TRIGGER who romped home to land the eighth and final race emphatically. Under Greg Cheyne, the Twice Over gelding powered away to score as he liked for Messrs Mark Bass, G D Lentin, Collin Naidoo & Quentin Naidoo & Greenacres Trust (Nom: Mr N M Shirtliff). Trained by Candice Bass-Robinson, the Maine Chance Farms bred Silent Trigger was winning for a second time and he looks unlikely to stop here.
Four time G1 winner TWICE OVER has had a fantastic season in 2021-2022 with his notable representatives including G1 Cape Guineas winner DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE, G2 Senor Santa Stakes winner SMORGASBORD, unbeaten filly CALL THE WIND, and stakes winners RESONATE and YOUNG LOVE.
