Klawervlei Stud’s four time G1 winning sire TWICE OVER (Observatory) has had another wonderful season in 2022-2023 and the former European champion was at it again on Wednesday, when Twice Over supplied two smart looking winners at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

Promising three-year-old TURBO POWER had finished second on his only start prior to Wednesday, and he duly justified tote favouritism when victorious in the second race on the Greyville card.

Despite proving a handful at the starting stalls, the Sean Tarry trained Turbo Power proved too strong for his rivals in Wednesday’s The Conglomerate (2016) Maiden Plate (1400m). Under Chase Maujean, the Twice Over colt was always prominent, and he kept finding more in the closing stages to account for ONE IRISH ROVER (What A Winter) by a neck.

Bred by Klawervlei, Turbo Power, who looks to have the scope to build on Wednesday’s win, races for Sean Tarry Racing (Pty) Ltd.

His sire struck again on Wednesday when the Twice Over gelding PREEMPTIVE STRIKE captured the eighth and final race on the Hollywoodbets Greyville card. The Stuart Ferrie trained gelding made it win number three with a courageous effort on Wednesday. Under Sean Veale, Preemptive Strike raced third early before hitting the front 200m from home and, after fighting out the finish with runner-up PHAKA IMALI (Var), stayed on to win by a short-neck.

The gelded Preemptive Strike, another bred by Klawervlei Stud, races for Mark Currie and Eric Buhr.

Twice Over, who was responsible for no fewer than four runners in this season’s G1 Splashout Cape Derby, is set to be represented by his multiple G1 winning sons DO IT AGAIN and SEE IT AGAIN in the 2023 G1 Hollywoodbets Durban July.

Also sire of this season’s high-class stakes winners RESONATE, TAIKONAUT and TEAM GOLD, Twice Over has a single lot on offer at the upcoming KZN Yearling Sale.
