Klawervlei Stud’s exciting young stallion WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) continues to impress as an exciting prospect, and the former Cape Guineas winner had a notable double over the past weekend.
Not only did William Longsword supply Saturday’s impressive debut winner REMEMBER WHEN, but his son INCREDIBILL also ran out a facile winner at Hollywoodbets Scottsville the following day.
The Johan Janse Van Vuuren trained Remember When, bred and owned by the Wernars family, made a big impression when breaking her maiden in open company at the first time of asking. Under Gavin Lerena, the two-year-old daughter of William Longsword produced a smart turn of foot to hit the front in Saturday’s 1160m race and stayed on to win by nearly half a length.
The following day, Incredibill (trained, like William Longsword and the latter’s sire Captain Al, by Vaughan Marshall), became his sire’s seventh first crop winner when he broke his maiden impressively at Scottsville. Under Jabu Jacobs, the two-year-old romped home over 1600m to win impressively by nearly two lengths. Bred by Mr Carolin, Incredibill (who had contested the Cell C Sharks Gatecrasher Stakes last time out) is owned by Rikesh Sewgoolam.
Currently, South Africa’s second Leading First Season Sire, by both stakes and individual winners, William Longsword is one of more than 100 stakes winners sired by Captain Al -with the latter also responsible for Klawervlei’s bang inform stallion CAPTAIN OF ALL and this season’s South African Triple Crown winner MALMOOS.
