Klawervlei Stud’s red hot young sire WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) has made a cracking start to his stud career, and the former G1 Cape Guineas looks to have another smart prospect to his name in the form of COIN SPINNER. The latter made it three wins in a row when scoring a facile win at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Wednesday. Trained by Tony Rivalland, three-year-old Coin Spinner stamped himself a progressive sophomore with a near two and a half length win in Wednesday’s 1200m contest.
Ridden to victory by Keagan De Melo, Coin Spinner was bred by Blue Sky Thoroughbreds, and the gelded son of William Longsword races for Messrs Naidoo and Maingard, in partnership with Mary Liley.
Coin Spinner is a member of his sire’s very promising first crop, with other members of this crop including G2 Epol Umkhomazi Stakes hero DYCE, Listed Secretariat Stakes winner BON VIVANT, G2 filly REMEMBER WHEN and Listed Model Man Mile victor HASTA MANANA. The latter is set to represent William Longsword in the G2 World Sports Betting Gauteng Guineas this weekend.
One of South Africa’s most exciting young sires, William Longsword has an exceptional draft on offer at Sunday’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale. His lots on offer include a filly (Lot 47) out of G1 Golden Slipper winner FOR THE LADS (Trippi), a filly (Lot 53) out of G2 Gold Bracelet winner GALLICA ROSE (Silvano), and a half-sister (Lot 87) to this season’s classy three-year-old filly MARIA QUEROL (Querari).
