Fresh off supplying a smart double at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Wednesday, Klawervlei Stud’s red hot sire WILLIAM LONGSWORD came up with another eye catching winner at the Vaal the following day when his classy son DYCE impressed with a classy win.

Winner of the G2 Epol Umkhomazi Stakes at two, the promising Dyce was making just his second start since returning from a long layoff on Thursday but proved far too classy for his rivals when running out a clear-cut winner of Thursday’s Betway Summer Cup 26 November Graduation Plate (1200m).

Under S’Manga Khumalo, the Lucky Houdalakis trained colt was always going strongly, and he powered away to beat impressive debut winner SOUTHERN SKIES (Vercingetorix) by two and a quarter lengths.

Owned and bred by David Shawe, four-year-old Dyce has now won three of just seven starts and the colt looks destined for bigger and better things.

He is one of several high-class performers to have emerged from William Longsword’s first crop, with others including classy Listed Secretariat Stakes winner BON VIVANT, Model Man Mile hero Hasta Manana and G2The Debutante runner up REMEMBER WHEN.

William Longsword is having another fine season in 2022-2023, with the handsome bay currently seventh on the South African General Sires List, ahead of such star sires as SILVANO (Lomitas), TRIPPI (End Sweep) and DYNASTY (Fort Wood).
