Klawervlei Stud’s beautifully bred young sire COUP DE GRACE (Tapit) has already been responsible for a flurry of winners this season, and the G2 Amsterdam Stakes winner came up with an impressive debut winner at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday.

Coup De Grace’s three-year-old son FLY THE COUP made a hugely impressive debut on Wednesday when scoring a fluent win over 1200m at Greyville.

Trained by Gareth Van Zyl, the Klawervlei Stud bred gelding powered clear, under Wayne Agrella, to post a just over a length win for owner Mario Ferreira.

It was a smart win from Fly The Coup, who was very keen early on and took an awkward step close home.

A R750 000 buy from the 2019 Cape Premier Yearling Sale, Fly The Coup is the latest in a growing number of winners to have emerged from Coup De Grace’s first crop.

Other winners produced in Coup De Grace’s first crop include the stakes-placed SH BOOM, feature race winner KISS OF LIFE, debut winner COUP DE TETE and the very useful UN DEUX TROIS.

Coup De Grace, whose multiple champion sire Tapit has some outstanding 3yos this season including champion ESSENTIAL QUALITY and recent G3 Holy Bull Stakes winner GREATEST HONOUR, has four lots on the upcoming Cape Yearling Sale.
