Klawervlei Stud’s triple G1 winning stallion CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) has been in prolific form of late and the former Equus Champion struck again at the Vaal on Tuesday, thanks to his very talented son SHANGO.

The latter, already a triple graded stakes winner, made it career win number six when downing some top-class rivals to win the Furious Room Now Opened Pinnacle Stakes (1600m) on Tuesday.

Under a great ride from Calvin Habib, Shango stormed home down the inside of the track to get up and win going away by a length and a quarter.

Multiple Equus Champion, and Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara queen of last season, RAIN IN HOLLAND (Duke Of Marmalade) could only finish a well beaten third, and was no less than six and a half lengths off Shango in Tuesday’s contest.

One of four winners on Tuesday for his trainer Sean Tarry, Shango was bred by the Heritage Stud.

Not disgraced last time out in the G1 Betway Summer Cup, Shango is now likely to travel to Cape Town for a tilt at the G3 Chairman’s Cup.

The gelding is owned by Bruce and Jo Gardner in partnership with Sean Tarry Racing (Pty) Ltd.

Shango has been a great flagbearer for Captain Of All, with his previous successes including the 2019 G2 TAB/Betting World Dingaans, the 2021 G3 Hollywoodbets 2200 and the 2022 G3 Lonsdale Stirrup Cup.
