Klawervlei Stud’s homebred sire WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) looks to have another classy sort to his name in the form of WILLY MEET AGAIN. The latter made a big impression when she won the TAB 4Racing Conditions Plate (F and M) (1600m) at Turffontein on Saturday.

Under a great ride from Richard Fourie, three-year-old Willy Meet Again made much of the running in Saturday’s contest, and stayed on gamely to win by a long neck. In the process, the sophomore accounted for high-class, graded stakes winning rivals BEATING WINGS (Rafeef) and LET’S GO NOW (Gimmethegreenlight) among others. After the win, Willy Meet Again’s trainer Lucky Houdalakis confirmed that a crack at the G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic is on the cards for Willy Meet Again. Bred and owned by David Shawe (also owner-breeder of William Longsword’s star sprinter son DYCE), Willy Meet Again has won four of seven starts, with the filly having also finished third in the G3 Betway Fillies Mile this season.

William Longsword went close to having yet another double on Saturday, with his daughter CAPTAIN’S DESTINY finishing a close second in the Summer Country Championship 1200m Final at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.

The Captain Al sired G1 Cape Guineas winner has four lots on offer at the Premier Yearling Sale, including a full-sister (Lot 197) to high-class performer JUST BE LEKKER.
