Klawervlei’s four-time G1 winning stallion TWICE OVER (Observatory) made the perfect start to the 2021-2022 season when he supplied a pair of winners at Fairview on Friday.

His first success came when his son CAIRON landed the spoils in Friday’s fifth race, when running out a clear-cut winner of the fifth race.

Under Warren Kennedy, the Gavin Smith trained gelding outclassed his rivals, with Cairon drawing off to score impressively by two and a half lengths.

Bred by Mr Haug, Cairon has now won three times for owners Messrs Andre Van Schaik, R M Botsis, Sunny Naidu, K P Naidoo, N D Van Vuuren & T P Zackey.

Twice Over’s second winner on Friday came when his Klawervlei Stud bred son Mousey On Over got up on the shadow of the post to score a thrilling win in the sixth race on the card. Under a superbly timed ride from Ryan Munger, the Sharon Kotzen trained gelding put his head down where it mattered most to win by a neck.

Mousey On Over, winning for a second time, races for Messrs K B Larsen, I D Berg, G M Kotzen, Saleem & Judelle Sheik, Peter & Simone Zackey & Ben Botha (Pty) Ltd,

Twice Over had an excellent season in 2020-2021 with his two-year-olds headed by G2 4Racing SA Nursery runner up SMORGASBORD and Listed The Lighthouse Foundation Devon Air Stakes winner TWICE THE TRIP, and his older runners including New Turf Carriers Jet Master Stakes winner DOUBLEMINT.

The sire of dual G1 Vodacom Durban July winner DO IT AGAIN has six lots on offer at the upcoming August Two-Year-Old Sale including a three-parts sister (Lot 82) to the aforementioned Do It Again, and a half-brother (Lot 305) to Listed World Sports Betting Perfect Promise Sprint winner MERCURY RISING (Gimmethegreenlight).
