Klawervlei Stud’s four time G1 winning stallion TWICE OVER (Observatory) looks to have a potential leading contender for The Grand Heritage in the form of his son CHAMPION WARRIOR.
The latter confirmed his love of the Vaal straight course when he won a good race at the Vaal on Thursday. In the process, Champion Warrior stamped his Grand Heritage claims.
Under a great ride from Calvin Habib, the Sean Tarry trained six-year-old defied his starting price of 40-1 when he got up to beat his top-class stablemate COSMIC SPEED (Querari) in Thursday’s Betway Summer Cup 29 November Conditions Plate (1400m).
Cosmic Speed had shown high-class form last season when his victories included the G1 Wilgerbosdrift H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes.
Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Champion Warrior races for Glistian (Pty) Ltd and Lance Michael.
Twice Over had also enjoyed success at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth over the weekend, where his daughters LAVENDER BAY and TWO A PENNY ran first and second respectively in the sixth race at Saturday’s meeting.
