Klawervlei Stud’s homebred Cape Guineas winning WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) has been in tremendous form of late, with the son of Captain Al churning out winners all over South Africa at a rate of knots.

William Longsword was at it again on Wednesday, when he came up with two more winners at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.

The Klawervlei resident went close to having a treble on the day, with William Longsword gelding WILLIAM THE FIRST finishing a close up second in Wednesday’s fifth race.

William Longsword struck first when his Brett Crawford trained daughter ELLA’S DELIGHT ran out a game winner of the second race at Kenilworth, the #DestinationCapeRacing Maiden Plate (F&M) over 1200m. Under Kabelo Matsunyane, the three-year-old kept finding more in the closing stages of Wednesday’s race to break her maiden by half a length. Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Ella’s Delight, second in each of her two previous races, races for the Tickets & Tax Syndicate.

Trainer Vaughan Marshall is no stranger to William Longsword, having trained both him and his sire Captain Al, and Vaughan sent out William Longsword’s gelded son ENSUING to win Wednesday’s Hollywoodbets Bright Future MR 72 Handicap (1200m). Given a fine ride by Corne Orffer, the three-year-old Ensuing put his head down where it mattered most to win Wednesday’s sprint by a short-head. Bred by Laurence Wernars, Ensuing is owned by Rikesh Sewgoolam.

His inform sire William Longsword is also the sire of the very classy COIN SPINNER, who runs in Saturday’s G3Betway Merchants.
