South Africa’s reigning champion breeders, Klawervlei Stud, and the farm’s resident stallions enjoyed notable success at the recent National Yearling Sale.

Not only did Klawervlei sell the top-priced yearling at the sale, the farm’s stallions also proved very popular at the 2021 National Sale.

Klawervlei sold the blue-blooded GIMMETHEGREENLIGHT colt (Lot 351) out of triple G1 winner and Champion ALL IS SECRET (Captain Al) who topped the sale when knocked down to Form Bloodstock for R2 800 000.

A half-brother to Listed Lady’s Bracelet queen SOVEREIGN SECRET (Dynasty), the sales topping colt is bred on the same Gimmethegreenlight/Captain Al cross as G1 winner Gunner, and his dam is a full-sister to G1 winner THE SECRET IS OUT (Captain Al) and three-parts sister to a dual G1 winner in the form of SNOWDANCE (Captain Al).

Klawervlei’s four-time G1 winning stallion TWICE OVER (Observatory), whose numerous high-class offspring include dual G1 Vodacom Durban July winner DO IT AGAIN, was responsible for the fourth top-priced yearling at the National Sale.

His Drakenstein Stud consigned son MUCHO DINERO, a colt bred on the same Twice Over/CASEY TIBBS (Sadler’s Wells) cross as the aforementioned Do It Again, was knocked down to John Freeman for R1 400 000, with John also picking up the Klawervlei consigned Twice Over colt (Lot 244) out of dual G1 winner SHADOW DANCING (Fort Wood) for R500 000.

The Klawervlei bred and based Cape Guineas winner WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) also made his mark at this year’s National Yearling Sale, with William  Longsword yearlings fetching up to R1 000 000.

William Longsword also had two yearlings fetch R475 000 apiece, and another colt makes R425 000.
