Classy four-year-old EL CORDOBES (Frankel), who hails from the same female line as Klawervlei Stud’s exciting young sire KOMMETDIEDING (Elusive Fort), showed his mettle when he won the G2 Princess Of Wales’s Stakes (Sponsored By The Kingdom Of Bahrain) at Newmarket on Thursday.
In winning Thursday’s race, El Cordobes provided his jockey William Buick with a 2000th winner in Britain.

El Cordobes was one of two Charlie Appleby-trained, Godolphin-owned horses in the race alongside ARABIAN CROWN (Dubawi), and started at 7-2 with John and Thady Gosden’s PALLADIUM (Gleneagles) the 13-8 favourite after the late withdrawal of Ghostwriter. Buick took his time in the Group Two before knuckling down in the final three furlongs, when he switched out to find some room and kicked clear for a two-length win over WIMBLEDON HAWKEYE (Kameko) for a famous success.

The Charlie Appleby trained winner, who is out of BOLD LASS (Sea The Stars), has won three of nine starts.

From the same Sadler’s Wells male line as Kommetdieding, El Cordobes traces back directly in female line to the wonderful producer QUEEN OF LIGHT (Borealis).
The latter is ancestress of numerous top-class descendants including G1 Vodacom Durban July/G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met winning sire Kommetdieding.

Other outstanding performers hailing from this family include such English classic winners as FAIRY FOOTSTEPS (Mill Reef), LIGHT CAVALRY (Brigadier Gerard) and ROYAL PALACE (Ballymoss), as well as 2024 G1 Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby) hero LOOK DE VEGA (Lope De Vega).
