Klawervlei’s exciting new stallion KOMMETDIEDING (Elusive Fort) gained a handsome boost when his full-sister KOMMETJIE STORM made R3 200 000 to top the 2023 National Yearling Sale. Consigned to the auction by Oldlands Stud (who bred Kommetdieding’s own dam ADORABLE (Captain Al)), the classy filly always looked to be one of the stars of the National Sale and so it proved, with Kestorm Investments having to go to R3.2 million to acquire the filly.
Kommetdieding and Kommetjie Storm are out of Listed Gardenia Handicap rurunner-up Adorable, a three-parts sister to triple G1 winner CAPTAIN AMERICA (Captain Al) and closely related to G3 Jacaranda Handicap queen AQUITAINE (Al Mufti) and G3 Diana Stakes runner up CAPTAINOFMYSOUL (Captain Al).
Adorable has more than proven her worth at stud, with the mare having already produced four winners including the smart QUANTUM KING (Querari), while this is also the family of Saturday’s eye-catching winner QUASIFORSURE (Quasillo).
The brilliant Kommetdieding won his first four starts culminating in an impressive victory in the G3 Politician Stakes before going on to win that season’s G1 Vodacom Durban July. In landing the 2021 July, Kommetdieding accounted for a host of top-class performers including champions GOT THE GREENLIGHT (Gimmethegreenlight), DO IT AGAIN (Twice Over), and RAINBOW BRIDGE (Ideal World). The brilliant colt would go on to confirm his class when victorious in the 2022 G1 WSB Cape Town Met, where his beaten rivals included such equine stars as JET DARK (Trippi), LINEBACKER (Captain Of All), and DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE (Twice Over).
He stands his first season at Klawervlei in 2023.
