A half-brother to Klawervlei Stud’s well performed young stallion ROYAL MO (Uncle Mo) proved one of the star attractions on the sixth session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale on Sunday.
Catalogued as Hip 1647, the GUN RUNNER (Candy Ride) colt was knocked down to Jane Buchanan, on behalf of BBA Ireland, for $475 000. The dark bay colt was consigned and co-bred by Jim and Pam Robinson’s Brandywine Farm.
Buchanan said of her purchase, “He will possibly go abroad, most likely, but I’ll have to talk to [BBA Ireland’s] Michael [Donohoe] about that.”
The colt is out of the SAINT BALLADO (Halo) mare ROYAL IRISH LASS-dam of the high-class Royal Mo as well as the stakes winning TARA FROM THE CAPE (Leroidesanimaux).
The only son of US champion and leading sire UNCLE MO (Indian Charlie) at stud in South Africa, Royal Mo won the G3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes and ran third in the G1 Santa Anita Derby in a brief racing career.
His eagerly awaited first crop are set to race this season.
