The Klawervlei Stud bred and based G1 Cape Guineas winner WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) has enjoyed notable sales ring success this year, and the strapping bay enjoyed further such success at Thursday’s CTS Mare and Mixed Sale.

William Longsword was responsible for the top weanling sold off this year’s Mare and Mixed Sale, with his son (Lot 109), out of SECRET OF VICTORIA (Goldkeeper), knocked down for R425 000.

The regally bred colt, consigned to the sale by BBP Syndicate C/O Cape Thoroughbred Sales (As Agent), was sold to Rikesh Sewgoolam. 

His Guineas winning sire William Longsword had also enjoyed notable success at both the Cape Premier Yearling Sale and National Yearling Sale this year.

William Longsword yearlings made up to R550 000 at this year’s Premier Sale, while a filly sired by William Longsword was knocked down to John Freeman for R1 000 000 at the 2021 National Yearling Sale

Already the sire of nine first crop horses to have won or placed, William Longsword has 11 lots on the CTS Farm Yearling Sale, and a further 11 yearlings on sale at the KZN Yearling Sale.
