Klawervlei Stud’s bang inform stallion, and former European champion, TWICE OVER (Observatory), enjoyed a good day on Sunday when responsible for a trio of winners -with Twice Over progeny scoring in both Zimbabwe and South Africa..
Twice Over had a double at Borrowdale on Sunday, where his son MACKELROY captured the second race, and promising daughter CUTBACK won the Guineas Trial for trainer Thomas Mason, jockey Teaque Gould and owners Messrs Buchan and Evans. Bred by Laurence Wernars, Cutback proved far too strong for her rivals, when powering home to win by a length and a half. The Twice Over filly has now won her last two in a row, and she looks progressive.
Cutback’s four-time G1 winning sire also enjoyed success at Kenilworth on Sunday where TWICE OVER filly DUPLICITY scored a thrilling win in the seventh race on the card. Trained by Candice Bass-Robinson, the Drakenstein Stud bred and owned four-year-old powered home down the outside, under Aldo Domeyer, to win a good contest by a short-head. The beautifully bred Duplicity has now won or placed in seven of her ten starts and she looks unlikely to stop here.
Her sire Twice Over could be on course for a big day this Saturday -with his top-class sons DO IT AGAIN and DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE both representing him in Saturday’s G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met and his millionaire son DOUBLEMINT a runner in the same day’s G2 New Turf Carriers Western Cape Stayers.
