Klawervlei Stud’s four time G1 winning stallion TWICE OVER (Observatory) is the sire of the inform gelding LAST ONE STANDING.
The latter made it four wins in a row when he won at Borrowdale Park on Saturday.
Bred by Beaumont Stud, five-year-old Last One Standing romped home to claim Saturday’s Paramount Gold Pinnacle Plate (1600m) by two and a half lengths.
Trained by Debra Swanson, Last One Standing was ridden on Saturday by Deryl Daniels. The gelding has yet to taste defeat in Zimbabwe.
Twice Over hails from an outstanding family, and this family went close to enjoying more international success when outstanding four-year-old OMBUDSMAN ran second in Saturday’s G1 Qipco Champion Stakes (a race Twice Over himself won in both 2009 and 2010). Winner of both the G1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes and G1 Juddmonte International this year, Ombudsman’s fifth dam LOST VIRTUE (Cloudy Dawn) is the third dam of Twice Over.
