Klawervlei Stud’s four time G1 winning sire TWICE OVER (Observatory) made news this past weekend when his top-class son DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE was named Cape Racing’s Champion Middle Distance Horse Of 2023-2024.
Bred by Patricia Devine Investments (Pty) Ltd, Double Superlative downed a top-class field when he won the 2024 G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met.
In landing the Met, Double Superlative accounted for no fewer than nine graded stakes winners, headed by his dual G1 winning paternal-half brother SEE IT AGAIN (Twice Over), who finished fourth.
Also victorious in the G1 Cape Guineas, the Justin Snaith trained Double Superlative has won or placed in ten of 16 starts and he has earned nearly R2 000 000 in prize money.
His sire Twice Over had an excellent season in 2023-2024, when the former European champion was responsible for four black type winners of five races, and his progeny banked more than R9.708 million in stakes in 2023-2024.
Twice Over hails from the same family as one of the most exciting three-year-olds currently in Britain, in the form of OMBUDSMAN (Night Of Thunder). The latter, unbeaten in three starts and winner of the Listed Prix Nureyev last time out, looks destined to make his mark in group race company.
Ombudsman is out of SYNDICATE (Dansili) -whose fourth dam LOST VIRTUE (Cloudy Dawn) also ranks as the third dam of Twice Over.
