The promising Klawervlei Stud bred UKUDUMA (Vercingetorix) maintained her unbeaten record when she won the Listed Irridescence Stakes (1500m) at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
Trained by Vaughan Marshall, the promising filly had won her only previous start and made it two wins from two starts with her victory on Saturday.
Under an inspired ride from Gavin Lerena, two-year-old Ukuduma kept finding in the closing stages to stay on gamely and win by a short-head.
Owned by Mukund Gujadhur, Grant Knowles, John Koster and Lance and Delma Sherrell, Ukuduma was a R2 600 000 purchase from the 2024 National Yearling Sale.
A daughter of the Klawervlei bred champion VERCINGETORIX (Silvano), Ukuduma is the first stakes winner produced by her dam THUNDER DANCE (Jet Master). The latter won six races including both the G1 TAB Paddock Stakes and G1 Empress Club Stakes.
The regally bred Thunder Dance was produced by Fort Wood’s top-class daughter SHADOW DANCING, herself a half-sister to legendary sire Captain Al.
