Klawervlei Stud’s inform July winning sire POMODORO (Jet Master) continues to enjoy good success with his progeny winning all over South Africa, with another notable double over the past weekend.
Pomodoro’s latest double included a very impressive looking two-year-old winner in the form of his daughter SOCIAL IMAGE.
The latter, fourth on her only previous start, caught the eye when romping home to six and a half length maiden win over 1000m at Turffontein on Saturday. Bred by Klawervlei Stud, the Sean Tarry trained Social Image, who races for Sean Tarry Racing (Pty) Ltd, was ridden to victory by Lyle Hewitson.
Social Image, who is out of a mare by LONDON NEWS (Bush Telegraph), was sold for R14 000 at the 2020 Klawervlei Farm Sale.
Pomodoro’s two-year-olds having been shaping up well this season, with his other juveniles including Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes runner up BARZALONA -a runner in Saturday’s G3 Cape Of Good Hope Nursery.
Pomodoro had also enjoyed success at Fairview one day earlier when his Jacques Strydom trained son TAKE THE WORLD scored a courageous win over 2000m. Owned by Money Talks Syndicate (Nom: Mr Andre Van Schaik), Mrs M O Strydom & Mr Jacques Strydom, Take The World was making it back to back wins, with the Klawervlei Stud bred gelding having shed his maiden by three and a half lengths at his previous start.
Also sire of this season’s G1 Cape Racing Presents The Cape Guineas winner RUSSIAN ROCK, Pomodoro has seven lots on this week’s Cape Yearling Sale and a further 11 lots on the 2021 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
