Klawervlei Stud’s bang inform stallion WILLIAM LONGSWORD had another productive weekend this week, when the G1 Cape Guineas winner came up with two more winners.

William Longsword’s first success this weekend came when his son MORNING CHESS won at Fairview on Friday. The Lunga Gila trained Morning Chess was given a fine, front running ride by Calvin Habib to land the Racing 240 For Racing. For You MR 68 Handicap by three-parts of a length.

Bred by Judy Wintle, four-year-old Morning Chess is owned by Patrice Latour.

The Klawervlei homebred sire struck again when his daughter WILLY MEET AGAIN scored at Turffontein on Saturday. Trained by Lucky Houdalakis, three-year-old Willy Meet Again made it two wins from just four starts when she won Saturday’s Alan Greef FM 75 Handicap (1450m) by nearly three parts of a length.

Bred and owned by David Shawe, Willy Meet Again had finished second on debut before romping home next time out to a four and three quarter length maiden win.

William Longsword also got a handsome update to his wonderful female line when his close relative GIMMIE’S COUNTESS (Gimmethegreenlight) won the G3 Baker Mc Veigh Diana Stakes at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Saturday.

The full-sister to dual G1 winner GIMME A PRINCE (Gimmethegreenlight) made it two wins from just four starts when landing Saturday’s G3 feature for Dean Kannemeyer, Serino Moodley and Khaya Stables.

Gimmie’s Countess, who looks a likely Fillies Guineas contender, is out of William Longsword’s G1 South African Fillies Sprint/G3 Poinsettia Stakes winning half-sister REAL PRINCESS (Trippi).

The inform William Longsword has three lots on offer at the 2024 Cape Racing Sales Breeze Up & Unbroken 2YO Sale.
