Klawervlei Stud’s inform stallion WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) came up with two more winners this past weekend.
On Friday, his son RED WILLLIAM won at Fairview, and the following day, his daughter ELECTRIC FEELS won the eighth and final race at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.
Five-year-old Red William raced just off the pace in Friday’s The Jane Thomas Far End Classified Stakes (2000m). Jockey Luyolo Mxothwa asked the gelding his effort 150m from home, and Red William stayed on strongly to score by a length and a quarter.
The Sharon Kotzen trained gelding races for Messrs I D Berg, M C Higgs, Glen Kotzen, Sharon Kotzen & Ben Botha (Pty) Ltd. Bred by Stone Hill Stud, Red William provided his jockey with a winning birthday present.
His sire William Longsword is also the sire of the consistent mare Electric Feels, who made it two wins from her last three starts with a convincing win on Saturday.
Under Mpumelelo Mjoka, the Harold Crawford/Michelle Rix trained Electric Feels hit the front close home and stayed on to score by half a length.
Bred by the Birch Bros, Electric Feels has finished in the first four in her last nine starts. The daughter of William Longsword races for Kelly Hadden and Michelle Rix.
Her G1 winning sire William Longsword, whose flagbearers this season include G2 Betway Joburg Spring Challenge winner BACK IN BUSINESS and Listed Betway National Colour Stakes heroine ICE STAR, is set to be represented by his son MELECH in Saturday’s G1 TAB Computaform Sprint
