Klawervlei Stud’s blue-blooded young stallion WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) came up with another eye-catching first crop winner on Thursday when his two-year-old daughter IMBEWU made a winning debut at Turffontein.
Trained by Sean Tarry, Imbewu pulled clear in the closing stages of Thursday’s Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1160m), and drew off, under Lyle Hewitson, to post a convincing one and a half-length win at the first time of asking.
Bred by James Armitage, two-year-old Imbewu is owned by the Hollywood Syndicate.
Imbewu joins the likes of G1 contender SAFE RETURN and the promising BON VIVANT as other exciting winners to have emerged from William Longsword’s first crop of two-year-olds this season.
To date, the Cape Guineas winning son of Captain Al has had ten runners either win or finish in the money, and there is plenty more to come from William Longsword!
A full-brother to this season’s Listed World Sports Betting Sweet Chestnut Stakes winner REALLY ROYAL (Captain Al), William Longsword has some very well-bred yearlings on offer at this week’s CTS Farm Yearling Sale.
His draft includes a filly (Lot 15) out of a three-parts sister to millionaire ISPHAN (Tiger Ridge) from the family of exciting filly MARINA (Silvano), a three-parts brother (Lot 21) to G1 winning sprinter SERGEANT HARDY (Captain Al), and a half-sister (Lot 114) to dual G1 winning champion SEVENTH PLAIN (Seventh Rock).
