Klawervlei Stud’s inform stallion WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) continues to churn out impressive winners, and the former G1 Cape Guineas winner was at it again when his son BACK IN BUSINESS won a good race at Turffontein on Thursday.

One of three winners on the day for trainer Joe Soma, the classy four-year-old made a big impression when he romped home to win the Racing 240 For Racing. For You Middle Stakes (1450m) by an emphatic two and a quarter lengths.

Ridden to victory by Muzi Yeni, Back In Business has now won four of just nine starts, with the William Longsword gelding victorious in three of his first four starts.

Described by his trainer as a “top horse” in the post-race interview, the Klawervlei Stud bred Back In Business races for ANOA (Pty) Ltd.

William Longsword went close to having a double at Turffontein on Thursday, with his sons THE CANE TRAIN and WILLIAM IRON ARM finishing second in the first and third races respectively.

Just one day earlier, William Longsword had enjoyed success at Hollywoodbets Scottsville, where his consistent daughter GORGEOUS GIRL won the sixth race on the card. Three-year-old Gorgeous Girl has now won or finished second in each of her last four starts.

Sire of this season’s stakes winners DYCE, RULERSHIP and SABRE STRIKE, among many others, William Longsword has six lots on offer at the August Two Year Old Sale.
