Klawervlei Stud look to have bred another smart sort in the form of ASCALON DANCER (Vercingetorix).
The latter, a full-brother to 2025 G1 South African Fillies Sprint winner MIA MOO (Vercingetorix) made a big impression when he made a winning debut at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Friday night.

Under S’Manga Khumalo, the Gareth Van Zyl trained Ascalon Dancer turned the Welcome To Hollywoodbets Greyville Maiden Plate (1200m) into a one horse race.
The three-year-old pulled clear in the closing stages to win as he liked by nearly five lengths.

Owned by Miss Singh and Raj Singh, Ascalon Dancer was a R450 000 buy from the 2024 KZN Yearling Sale before being resold for R550 000 at the 2024 Breeze Up & Unbroken 2YO Sale.

Remarkably, Klawervlei bred both Ascalon Dancer’s champion sire Vercingetorix and his stakes winning dam.

Klawervlei Stud’s G1 Cape Guineas winning sire WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) enjoyed feature race success at Mauritius on Saturday.
His classy son ITSRAININGWILLIAM was given a fine ride to win Saturday’s The Mauritius Telecom Barb Cup.

Under Iannish Taka, the Ramapatee Gujadhur trained  Itsrainingwilliam made all the running to win Saturday’s 1600 contest courageously.

Bred by Drakenstein Stud, the gelded son of William Longsword won four times in South Africa, where his victories included the 2023 G3 World Sports Betting Legal Eagle Stakes.

William Longsword also enjoyed success at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Saturday where his daughter PRINCESS OF BAYEUX won the ninth race on the card.

The close relation of champion GIMME A PRINCE (Gimmethegreenlight) has two lots on offer at the Two Year Old Sale.

Klawervlei Stud’s homebred stallion WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) continues to churn out winners. The son of the farm’s late, great Captain Al was at it again on Tuesday when William Longsword supplied two smart winners at Fairview.

His inform son IMAGINABLE came with a late rattle, under Craig Zackey, to land Tuesday’s TAB Telebet 086100822 Middle Stakes (1200m) by a length and three quarters.
Trained by Gavin Smith, the gelding has won three of his last four starts, with Imaginable having won six times overall.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, the versatile Imaginable, who has won on both turf and polytrack, is owned by Rikesh Sewgoolam.

Described as a “lovely horse to train”, Imaginable looks sure to continue to do well.

His sire’s second success on Tuesday came when William Longsword gelding RED WILLIAM won the seventh race on the card.
Under Richard Fourie, the Sharon Kotzen trained gelding got up in the shadow of the post to land the #Youcanbetonus! MR 80 Handicap (2000m) by a head.
It was a third consecutive win for the consistent Red William, with the latter having now six wins to his credit.
Bred by Stone Hill Stud, Red William races for Messrs I D Berg, M C Higgs, G M Kotzen, Mrs S B Kotzen & Ben Botha (Pty) Ltd (Nom: Mr Arne Botha).

His G1 Cape Guineas winning sire William Longsword has two fillies on offer at the Two Year Old Sale -a full-sister (Lot 52) to the smart JUST BE LEKKER, and a filly (Lot 142) out of a three time winning half-sister to dual stakes winner RUSH FOR JOHN (Jet Master).

Klawervlei Stud’s homebred G1 Cape Guineas winner WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) had a memorable day on Saturday.
Not only did William Longsword come up with three winners in South Africa on Saturday, but his high-class son WILLIAM IRON ARM won a good race in Mauritius on the same day.

William Longsword is also the sire of WILLIAM’S WOMAN, who caught the eye when finishing third on debut on Saturday.

His first success in South Africa on Saturday came when his three-year-old daughter MISS WILLIAM won the second race at Hollywoodbets Durbanville.
Under a great ride from Richard Fourie, the James Crawford trained filly kept going gamely to win the Lucky Fish Maiden Dash Maiden Plate (F and M) (1250m) by a neck. Owned by Delma and Lance Sherrell, Miss William was bred by the La Berg Stud.

William Longsword also had a pair of winners at the Vaal on Saturday. His son SILVER LONGSWORD showed tremendous courage when he won the Betway Maiden Plate on Saturday.
Under a strong ride from Raymond Danielson, the Roy Magner trained gelding pulled out more in the closing stages to withstand a strong challenge from runner up WINSTON’S WONDER (Danon Platina). Owned by John Finlayson, Silver Longsword was bred by the La Plaisance Stud.

William Longsword is also the sire of LAUGHING WILLIAM, winner of the Betway MR 80 Handicap (1450m) on Saturday.
Trained by Candice Dawson, Laughing William, under Kobeli Lihaba stayed on strongly in Saturday’s contest to score by a neck. The Klawervlei Stud bred gelding, who was winning for a fourth time, races for Mr Teegler.

Klawervlei Stud hosted an Open Day for their exciting  young stallion KOMMETDIEDING (Elusive Fort).

Stallion manager John Freeman made an opening address highlighting the brilliance that Kommetdieding had shown during his career, pointing out that G1 Vodacom Durban July/G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met winner had been unbeaten at two.

Klawervlei’s John Koster went on to point the fascinating and numerous possibilities that Kommetdieding’s pedigree presents for breeders, and suggested that inbreeding to the wonderful OFF TO WAR (Complete Warrior) was an exciting option.

Kommetdieding himself looked an absolute picture and impressed all who saw him with his fine looks and superb temperament.

Described as an outstanding stallion to deal, in terms of temperament and behaviour in the breeding shed, Kommetdieding looks sure to be popular again this breeding season.

Winner of his first four starts, Kommetdieding (whose stakes placed dam is a three-parts sister to triple G1 winner CAPTAIN AMERICA (Captain Al) has his first yearlings on offer in 2026.
