Klawervlei Stud’s four time G1 winning stallion TWICE OVER (Observatory) hails from the same female as one of Britain’s most exciting three-year-olds COSMIC YEAR (Kingman).
The latter made it three wins from three starts when running out a convincing winner of the Listed TrustATrader King Charles II Stakes at Newmarket on Friday.

The Harry Charlton-trained son of Kingman looked a Group race winner in waiting when taking the step up to Listed class in his stride. Partnered for the first time by Ryan Moore the 6/4 favourite never looked in danger of losing his unbeaten record at any point in the seven furlong contest.

Once sent on by Moore the Juddmonte-owned favourite quickly found another change of gear to scoot into a clear advantage with only daylight ahead of him.
Although recent Kempton Park scorer Marvelman tried to match the effort of Cosmic Year he failed to have the legs to match him with a length-and-a-half separating the pair at the line.

A tilt at the G1 Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas is now on the cards for Cosmic Year, who has won his three starts by an aggregate of 13 lengths.

Cosmic Year, whose third dam QUANDARY (Blushing Groom) is also the granddam of Twice Over, is out of the top-class performer PASSAGE OF TIME (Dansili), winner of five races including both the G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud and G3 Musidora Stakes.

The Klawervlei Stud bred MIA MOO (Vercingetorix) made it back to back graded stakes wins when she won the G2 TAB Camellia Stakes (1160m) at Turffontein on Saturday.

The filly had won the G3 Sycamore Sprint prior to her victory on Saturday.

Trained by Sean Tarry, four-year-old Mia Moo was given a fine ride by Piere Strydom in the Camellia Stakes. Strydom launched his challenge late, and Mia Moo stayed on nicely to win by over two lengths.
Owned by Sandy and Eugene Arundel in partnership with World Sports Betting, the classy Mia Moo has won five of her 15 starts.

Mia Moo is a real triumph for Klawervlei Stud. Remarkably, Klawervlei not only bred Mia Moo and her outstanding sire Vercingetorix, but the farm also bred Mia Moo’s dam LEEWARD (Captain Al).

The latter, who reeled off four wins in a row at two culminating in a win in the Listed Irridescence Stakes, is the dam of five winners with Leeward’s offspring including not only Mia Moo but also the promising three-year-old TWO G’S (Master Of My Fate). The latter holds an entry in the G2 World Sports Betting Fillies Guineas.

Klawervlei Stud’s homebred G1 Cape Guineas winner WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) was responsible for a pair of winners over the weekend.
On Friday, the William Longsword filly CITY OF DREAMS got off the mark when she won the Play Soccer 6,10 and 13 Open Maiden (F&M) (1000m) at Fairview.

Under Iannish Taka, the Kelly Mitchley trained three-year-old turned the contest into a one-horse race with City Of Dreams drawing off to win by four and a quarter lengths. Bred by the Klawervlei Grooms Trust, City Of Dreams races for Mr S S Govender & Mesdames Sarosha Govender & S D Stokes. 

William Longsword filly STREISAND provided her sire with a second success this weekend when she won at Turffontein on Sunday.
The Robyn Klaasen trained three-year-old, ridden by Kaidan Brewer, justified tote favouritism when she won Sunday’s Champion Finale 26  April FM 75 Divided Handicap (F&M) over 1600m. Well ridden by Brewer, Streisand kept going to score a shade cosily by a length. Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Streisand races for Dayalan Chinsammy and Satch Mathen.

A son of Klawervlei’s late, great stallion Captain Al (whose sire sons have enjoyed a wonderful season in 2024-2025), William Longsword went close to having a treble this weekend, with his daughter ENCHANTING LADY finished third, beaten just a neck, in the fifth race on Friday.

Klawervlei Stud’s high-class G1 Cape Guineas winner WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) looks to have a smart sort to his name in the form of NORTH POINT.
That two-year-old made it back to back wins when romping home to a facile win at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Monday.

Trained by Brett and James Crawford, North Point was always up with the pace in Monday’s Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Welcomes You Juvenile Plate (1000m).
When jockey JP Van Der Merwe asked the question, North Point quickened up smartly to win impressively by three and a quarter lengths.

Bred by the Klawervlei Grooms Trust, North Point has won two of four starts for owners Greg Bortz and Gina Goldsmith.

A horse with a wonderful temperament, North Point could be aimed at bigger races in KwaZulu-Natal later in the season.

His sire William Longsword is no stranger to siring high-class performers with the son of Captain Al’s other notable performers including star sprinter DYCE, as well as the likes of BACK IN BUSINESS, ICE STAR, ITSRAININGWILLIAM, SILVER SABRE and MELECH. The latter was entered in Saturday’s G2 TAB Senor Santa Stakes.
