Fresh off a double over the weekend, Klawervlei Stud’s inform stallion WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) struck again when he came up with two more winners on Tuesday. The Cape Guineas winner went close to supplying a trio of winners on the day, with William Longsword’s daughter ESSENTIAL finishing second in the third race at Fairview.

William Longsword’s first success at Fairview on Tuesday came when his daughter LITTLE LEXI won the second race. Trained by Alan Greeff (she was one of three winners for her trainer on Tuesday), Little Lexi was given a superb ride by Richard Fourie in the 4Racing.TV Open Maiden (1200m). Fourie bought his mount with a sustained run, splitting runners, which saw Little Lexi power home to get up and win convincingly by two lengths.
Little Lexi, who was making her Fairview debut on Tuesday, races for Delma and Lance Sherrell. The well bred filly was bred by Ascot Stud.

Her sire came up with a second winner on the card when William Longsword gelding WILLIAM THE FIRST won Tuesday’s sixth race. The Gavin Smith trained gelding raced just off the pace in the Racing240 Classified Stakes (1600m) before hitting the front at the top of the straight. From there, Craig Zackey kept William The First going and the pair went on to salute by two and a quarter lengths. Bred by Cheveley Stud, William The First, now a three time winner, races for Messrs S B Adams, D C Stonebridge, Mr & Mrs C R Stonebridge, F Toweel & Mrs C N Karlovic and the Smith Super Syndicate.

William Longsword, who shares his champion sire with the Klawervlei bred boom sire ONE WORLD (Captain Al), is having another fine season in 2024-2025, with his flagbearers including such stakes winners as BACK IN BUSINESS and ICE STAR, as well as star sprinter DYCE and the likes of MELECH and WILLY MEET AGAIN.

Both William Longsword’s winners on Saturday came at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, where his daughters INDEBE MAYIBUYE and ELECTRIC FEELS won races one and five respectively. The Candice Bass-Robinson trained Indebe Mayibuye got off the mark when she ran out a convincing winner of Saturday’s Hollywoodbets Work Riders’ Series Leg 3 Maiden Plate (1100m). Under Bazile Nkunzi, the three-year-old hit the front full of running and stayed on to win a shade cosily by a length. Bred by Klawervlei, Indebe Mayibuye races for Hollywood Racing.

William Longsword’s second success on Saturday came when his daughter Electric Feels won the Celebrating Centurion Member Rhys Dyer’s Birthday D Stakes (1200m) in game fashion.
Under a strong ride from Mpumelelo Mjoka, the Harold Crawford/Michelle Rix trained mare fought on gamely to win Saturday’s sprint by a short-head. The consistent Electric Feels, who has won or finished second or third in each of her last six starts, was bred by the Birch Bros. The daughter of William Longsword races for Mesdames Hadden and Rix.

The inform William Longsword went close to having more success at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday. Not only did the Klawervlei sire’s daughter SHIPHOLIA  finish a close second in Sunday’s Marula Sprint, but William Longsword gelding LONG STREET went down just over half a length when finishing second in third race run at Hollywoodbets Scottsville.

The sire of this season’s high-class performers BACK IN BUSINESS, DYCE, and ICE STAR, among others, William Longsword had yearlings make up to R750 000 at the recent Summer Sale.

Klawervlei Stud’s four time G1 winning sire TWICE OVER (Observatory) is having a good run of late, and the former champion struck again on Thursday.

Twice Over mare, GHOSTBUSTER, her sire’s only runner on the day, impressed when romping home at the Vaal on Thursday. Ridden by Ryan Munger, the lightly raced mare got off the mark at the fourth attempt when victorious in the Racehorse Owners Association Maiden Plate (F and M) (1500m). Ghostbuster, who is trained by her owner Erico Verdonese, romped home to shed her maiden by over two lengths. Bred by Normandy Stud, Ghostbuster had finished fourth on her penultimate start.

Her sire Twice Over made headlines on World Sports Betting Cape Town Met day recently. His sons MUCHO DINERO and TRIPLE TIME finished first and third respectively in the G3 New Turf Carriers Western Cape Stayers, with Mucho Dinero taking his earnings to over R1 000 000 with his latest stakes victory. 

Another son of Twice Over, dual G1 winner SEE IT AGAIN was beaten just over a length in the G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met with See It Again having earned in excess of R5 000 000 in stakes.

CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) has been enjoying a good run of success this week.
His son CHARIOT OF FIRE became Captain Of All’s third winner in three days when romping home to victory at the Vaal on Thursday.
The Lucky Houdalakis trained three-year-old was always prominent in Tuesday’s Tab4racing  Maiden Plate (1500m) and he stayed on well to win by a length and a quarter. Bred by Klawervlei, Chariot Of Fire races for Jan and Linda Stekhoven. Third on debut, the lightly raced Chariot Of Fire was making just his fourth start on Thursday.

His sire Captain Of All had earlier enjoyed success on both Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, his daughter MAVERICK QUEEN won the first race at the Vaal, and the next day, another Captain Of All filly, SHESAROCKET, captured the first race run at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The Sean Tarry trained Maverick Queen caught the eye when she romped home to break her maiden by over two and a half lengths, with the three-year-old making just her third start on Tuesday. Bred by La Berg Stud, the daughter of Captain Of All races for     Haraka Bloodstock, G Ambrose,S Deodutt ,S Pieters,C Spalding,D & M Slade,S & T Cawdry,B Taylor, D Priest, A Doyle,L Du Plessis & B Holland.

Her paternal half-sister Shesarocket gave Captain Of All another winner when she ran out a near one and a half length winner of Wednesday’s Gallop TV Youtube Channel Open Maiden (F&M) for Stuart Ferrie and Sean Veale. Bred by the Syrilla Stud, the filly is owned by Messrs P M Chetty & R Chetty.

Klawervlei Stud’s four time G1 winning stallion TWICE OVER (Observatory) made his presence felt at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on World Sports Betting Cape Town Met day.
Twice Over geldings MUCHO DINERO and TRIPLE TIME finished first and third respectively in Saturday’s G3 New Turf Carriers Western Cape Stayers to provide their sire with a 1-3 finish in the R500 000 contest.

Trained, like Triple Time, by Justin Snaith for owner Nick Jonsson, Mucho Dinero made a big impression in claiming the 2025 New Turf Carriers Western Cape.

Under a positive ride from Aldo Domeyer, the gelded five-year-old hit the front 200m from home and powered away to score by a length and three quarters. (His paternal half-brother Triple Time had a rough race and may have been unlucky not to get closer to the winner).

Bred by Drakenstein Stud, Mucho Dinero has won seven of 20 starts, with the classy gelding having also triumphed in the 2024 G2 Anthonij Premier Trophy and 2024 Listed Woolavington Stakes.

Out of the CASEY TIBBS (Sadler’s Wells) mare CASH REGISTER, Mucho Dinero is bred on the same TWICE OVER/CASEY TIBBS cross as dual G1 Vodacom Durban July winner DO IT AGAIN and multiple stakes winner YOUNG LOVE.

Klawervlei Stud’s inform sire CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) had a smart winner on World Sports Betting Cape Town Met day this past weekend.

His classy son MEU CAPITANO downed a high-class field when he won the World Sports Betting A Stakes (1400m).

Under Gavin Lerena, the Piet Steyn trained four-year-old hit the front 200m from home and powered away to beat 2023 G1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas winner SNOW PILOT (Lancaster Bomber) by an impressive two lengths.

Further back in running came such classy gallopers as ALL OUT FOR SIX (One World), SUGAR MOUNTAIN (Silvano), THE REAL PRINCE (Gimmethegreenlight), and WATERBERRY LANE (Soft Falling Rain).

Owned by Messrs Goncalves and Luiz, Meu Capitano (bred on the same Captain Of All/Jet Master cross as multiple graded stakes winner SHANGO), has won five of 13 starts including the 2024 Winter Sprint.

Captain Of All went close to having a Met day double with his son CARRIACOU finishing a close up second in the twelth and final race.

The champion son of Captain Al could be set for more success next weekend, with Captain Of All’s top-class daughter FIERY PEGASUS a likely starter in Saturday’s G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas.
