William Longsword gelding ROYAL KINGDOM showed his class when he won at Fairview on Friday. Trained by Alan Greeff, three-year-old Royal Kingdom, who was bred by Mr Campbell, pulled away, under Richard Fourie, to claim Friday’s Play Soccer 6,10 and 13 MR 74 Handicap (1400m) by two and a half lengths. It was a fine effort from Royal Kingdom, who had five lengths to make up at the 300m mark. The gelding, who races for Peter Moor, has now won three of his last five starts.

William Longsword’s second success came at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Saturday. His daughter WILLIAM’S WOMAN got off the mark when she won the first race at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. Under a great ride from Sifisokuhle Bungane, the Michelle Rix trained filly dug down gamely to win the Hollywoodbets Durbanville Welcomes You Maiden Plate (1000m) by a neck. Real Princess is also the dam of hugely promising three-year-old GIMMIE RULES (Gimmethegreenlight), a winner of two of three starts and a potential runner in the G3 Cape Classic.

Klawervlei Stud’s four time G1 winning stallion TWICE OVER (Observatory) is the sire of the inform gelding LAST ONE STANDING.
The latter made it four wins in a row when he won at Borrowdale Park on Saturday.
Bred by Beaumont Stud, five-year-old Last One Standing romped home to claim Saturday’s Paramount Gold Pinnacle Plate (1600m) by two and a half lengths.

Under Louis Mxothwa, the four-year-old, who was keen early on, raced midfield for much of Wednesday’s Lucky Fish Monopoly Middle Stakes (F and M) (1250m). Mxothwa bought his mount with a strong late charge, which saw Festival Chic get up in the shadow of the post to score by a short-head.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, the James Crawford trained Festival Chic, who was not beaten far in the recent G3 Diana Stakes, is owned by Mr Murugasa.

Her G1 Cape Guineas winning sire William Longsword is a half-brother to G1 South African Fillies Sprint winner and outstanding producer REAL PRINCESS (Trippi). The latter, already dam of three graded stakes winners led by champion GIMME A PRINCE (Gimmethegreenlight) and G1 Hollywoodbets Durban July winner THE REAL PRINCE (Gimmethegreenlight), looks to have come up with another top-class prospect in the form of GIMMIE RULES (Gimmethegreenlight). The latter made it two wins from three starts when he won impressively at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Wednesday.

A WOOTTON BASSETT (Iffraaj) colt, from the immediate family of Klawervlei Stud’s four time G1 winning sire TWICE OVER (Observatory), topped Thursday’s session of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Book 1.
Consigned to the sale by Fittocks Stud, the regally bred colt (Lot 477) was sold to Godolphin for 1 900 000 guineas. The Juddmonte team provided the sheikh’s most determined adversary, but were ultimately left as the frustrated underbidder.

The colt, a half-brother to German Listed winner TOPANGA (Siyouni), continued a fine week for the Cumanis’ Fittocks Stud.

“Wootton Bassett needs no introduction and he’s from a very good farm,” said Godolphin talent scout Anthony Stroud. “Our team and our leader thought he was an exceptional horse. We had to wait until the end to get him but we’re delighted we have.”

The pricey colt is out of the placed mare TIME TUNNEL (Invincible Spirit), a daughter of G1 Falmouth Stakes winner TIMEPIECE (Zamindar).

In turn, Timepiece is a half-sister to three stakes winners notably G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner and high-class producer PASSAGE OF TIME (Dansili).
Timepiece’s own dam, CLEPSYDRA (Sadler’s Wells) was produced by Listed James Seymour Stakes winner QUANDARY (Blushing Groom), the granddam of TWICE OVER.

This is also the family of this season’s dual G1 winner OMBUDSMAN (Night Of Thunder), a likely contender for next Saturday’s G1 Qipco Champion Stakes.

The G1 Cape Guineas winner struck twice at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Tuesday, with William Longsword’s son ROLLO THE VIKING landing the fifth race and the stallion’s daughter QHAWEKAZI victorious in the seventh race.

William Longsword went close to having a treble on Tuesday with his son XIPHOS finishing second in the third race at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
