BIG WEEKEND FOR TWICE OVER

BIG WEEKEND FOR TWICE OVER

Klawervlei Stud’s four time G1 winning stallion TWICE OVER (Observatory) had a memorable weekend this past week.

Not only did Twice Over enjoy feature race success in South Africa, thanks to his son DOUBLEMINT, but his Sandown Stud bred daughter ALL OVER AGAIN captured Sunday’s Kenya Fillies Guineas at Ngong.

All Over Again is not the first daughter of Twice Over to enjoy classic success in Kenya, with Twice Over filly FAST FIVE landing the Kenya Fillies Guineas back in 2019.

Former European champion Twice Over also went close to having a feature race double at Kenilworth on Saturday, with his son DOUBLEMINT capturing the Listed New Turf Carriers Jet Master Stakes, and another son of Twice Over, TROOP THE COLOUR, finishing a close up third in Saturday’s Listed Kenilworth Cup.

Also the sire of dual Vodacom Durban July winner DO IT AGAIN and G1 Tsogo Sun Gold Medallion hero SAND AND SEA, Twice Over has an exceptional draft on offer at the upcoming Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

His 11 strong Premier Sale draft includes a colt (Lot 62) out of G1 Mercury Sprint winner FLY BY NIGHT (Jet Master), a half-brother to US G1 winner ANTONOE (First Defence)–who is from the same family as Twice Over, and a three-parts brother (Lot 176) to DO IT AGAIN.

This draft also includes a half-brother to G3 winner SHE’S A GIVER (Philanthropist), a colt (Lot 16) out of a G2 placed own sister to champion ALWAYS IN CHARGE (Captain Al), and a half-sister (Lot 177) to G1 Hollywood Gold Cup winner RAIL TRIP (Jump Start).

BIG WEEKEND FOR TWICE OVER

BACK TO BACK WINS FOR TWICE OVER FILLY

Klawervlei Stud’s four-time G1 winning sire, and former European champion, TWICE OVER (Observatory) looks to have a very promising daughter in the form of DUPLICITY.

The latter made it back to back wins when she scored a fluent win at Kenilworth on Monday afternoon, with three-year-old Duplicity having shed her maiden impressively on her penultimate start.

Under Greg Cheyne, the Drakenstein Stud bred and owned three-year-old powered home in Monday’s race to score by a convincing half a length, despite not being best suited by a muddling pace.

The promising Candice Bass-Robinson trained filly has now finished first or second in four of her five starts to date, and looks progressive.

Out of a daughter of MONTJEU (Sadler’s Wells), Duplicity is bred on a similar Twice Over/Sadler’s Wells cross to the sire’s dual G1 Vodacom Durban July winning son DO IT AGAIN.

European Champion Twice Over, whose progeny also include G1 winning two-year-old SAND AND SEA, four time graded stakes winner DOUBLEMINT and R3 million plus earner INVIDIA, is well represented on both Sunday’s Cape Yearling Sale as well as the upcoming Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

Twice Over has ten lots on the Cape Yearling Sale, and a further 11 lots on the Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
